Seton Hall University is pleased to announce the appointment of Father Paul Holmes, currently vice president for Mission and Ministry, to the position of vice president and interim dean of the John C. Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations, effective July 1, 2005. Both as vice president and interim dean, Father Holmes will report directly to University President Monsignor Robert Sheeran, and he will continue to be a member of Seton Hall's Executive Cabinet.
Over the last 17 years, Father Holmes has served the University in many ways — as associate professor and chair of the Department of Religious Studies, director of two interdisciplinary programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, vice chair of the Faculty Senate and associate provost for Academic Administration. Father Holmes was the University's first vice president for Mission and Ministry, and he also oversaw the Office of Board Affairs.
"Father Holmes has earned my utmost confidence and, in agreeing to lead the Whitehead School in this interim capacity, he brings a wealth of administrative and scholarly experience and proves himself to be one of the University's outstanding servant leaders," Monsignor Sheeran says.
"The Whitehead School of Diplomacy continues to be one of my major priorities, and I am so proud that the School has achieved national prominence during the years of Dean Clay Constantinou's service," continues Monsignor Sheeran. "I am confident that Father Holmes, as interim dean, and Dr. Thomas Lindsay, our Provost, will ensure that the remarkable momentum that has characterized the first seven years of the Whitehead School continues as we move forward."
As Seton Hall begins the search process for a new dean, Monsignor Sheeran says he is confident that the committee will be successful in finding an energetic leader — one who is willing to take on this important responsibility over the coming years, assuring the continued growth and development of the School.
Please join the University community in welcoming Father Holmes to his new responsibilities.
